Project Innovation was implemented in 2010 as  a countywide entrepreneurial competition where individuals and businesses could have their innovative ideas recognized and rewarded through our innovative contest. In 2010, we focused on medical innovations, but because of the success and response of the program, our 2011 contest will be opened up to all industries.

The overall goals of Project Innovation are:

1. Assess the innovative ideas to improve business products or services in our county
2. Provide a method for entrepreneur assistance with resources and information
3. Allow applicants a way to build contacts and visibility to investment firms and prospective clients
4. Create more competitive companies for future grants/awards
5. Determine the overall innovation needs for the community

The competition focuses on products or services that utilize innovation to advance the development of a product, expand services, increase production or enhance efficiencies while providing an economic return to the community.

Examples of such innovations may include, but are not limited to, information technology products, research tools or services, business process enhancements, agricultural product innovations, medical devices and drug development.
